We’re pleased to announce that the CODEX® platform has been named a Top 10 Innovation of 2019 by The Scientist.
Each year, an expert panel of judges identifies newly released products making the largest impact on life science research. The goal of the annual competition is to determine which products have the potential to revolutionize research and advance scientific knowledge. Products are evaluated based on their ability to facilitate research advances and address specific challenges within their fields.
The CODEX® platform enables spatially resolved, highly multiplexed biomarker analysis. The instrument integrates with existing fluorescence microscopes and uses iterative imaging cycles to visualize biomarkers without degrading tissue samples. By imaging three markers at a time, CODEX® avoids spectral overlap, an issue arising from too many fluorescent colors on a sample, making it difficult to distinguish between them.
Judges appreciated the simplicity of the CODEX® system, noting that it makes multiplexed antibody detection more accessible to researchers.
“We’re excited to have CODEX recognized as a Top 10 Innovation of 2019,” said Brian McKelligon, CEO of Akoya Biosciences. “Spatial context is essential for biomarker discovery, and CODEX is a simple, powerful tool that makes it easy for scientists to incorporate spatial analysis in their research.”
